St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Cemetery is on the River Road in the town of Brusly (BROO-lee).  That's between Plaquemine & Baton Rouge in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.  I visited with my mama and my eldest son in November of 2012 and we took these pictures.

Find a Grave has a partial list of those interred there, and if you ask the Louisiana Tombstone Transcription Project, they may be able to help you find more people.

Anatole Bourgoyne

Clifford Bourgoyne's paternal grandfather

Anatole Bourgoyne married Margaret Rose Tullier.

*Note: our family history has his christening date as 18 February 1858

Eddie Bourgoyne

Mama told me that "Eddie" is Clifford's father, Joseph Edouard Bourgoyne (1889-1918). This iron cross marker is right next to Anatole's grave.  I wonder where their wives are buried?

Amy Tullier Bourgoyne

Another Tullier-Bourgoyne marriage connection, I wondered?  But it looks like Ms. Amy first married a Tullier and later a Bourgoyne.  What a beautiful monument.

Joe A. Tullier & Mary Nora Tullier

Joseph Adolphe Tullier & Mary Honora [Tullier] Tullier.  Just a sample of the many, many Tulliers found in Brusly.  I don't know how/if we're related.

Three other Bourgoynes at St. John the Baptist

There were three other Bourgoynes listed at FindaGrave (not an exhaustive list).  I did not have a chance to go through the entire cemetery combing for additional Bourgoynes.  Maybe next time!

Joseph Harvey Bourgoyne, Sr (1929-2011), son of Telesphore Bourgoyne.

It looks like had the same great great grandfather, Jules Francois Bourgoyne, making them third cousins (I think).  Yes, the details are a bit messy...

Victor Joseph Bourgoyne, Jr. (ca.1924-2010), son of Victor Joseph Bourgoyne, Sr.

Was a longtime resident of Chalmette.  Not sure if there was any relation.

Therese Mabile Bourgoyne (unknown-2004).

No known relation.

If Herman looks about three years old, that makes this image circa 1911.
